Company History

Founded in 1956, Robert Massey Company is a full service professional real estate company which is primarily involved in residential property management. We presently manage hundreds of single family homes, apartment units, and commercial property throughout Jefferson County.

We have two property managers in the firm, Robert Massey, Sr. and Robert Massey, Jr. Both are members of the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM), nationally based in Chicago, and have earned the designation of Certified Property Manager (CPM). Our list of clients includes doctors, attorneys, engineers, and other professionals from all walks of life. We have heightened expertise and industry knowledge. We are real estate professionals who know first-hand the unique challenges of managing rental property in today’s constantly changing economic and legislative environment. We know how to manage those challenges to everyone’s benefit.

Services for Sellers

• Recommending how to prepare property for market
• Determining market value of property
• Offering property to in-house investors for possible quick sale and reduced selling cost before placing property on the open market
• Listing and marketing property
• Making credit checks on potential buyers
• Insuring minimal delays in buyer loan processing
• Maintaining property for sellers who have moved prior to closing
• Closing sale on owner’s behalf when owner is out of town and unavailable for closing

Services for Buyers

• Assisting in pre-qualifying so that when a suitable property is found, the loan process has already begun
• Offering buyer brokerage whereby we assist the buyer in obtaining the most property for the least amount of money
• Helping to secure competitive financing
• Coordination with lenders that provide special low and/or no down payment loans for first time buyers or individuals with little or no down payment money

Our real estate management services include, but are not limited to:

• Preparing property for occupancy
• Screening and selecting tenants
• Preparing lease documents
• Collecting and remitting rent
• Regular inspections
• Pay rolling maintenance staff
• Paying taxes, insurance and other expense
• Assuring compliance with government housing laws and regulations
• Marketing/advertising when vacancies occur

• Preparing income and expense reports for client
• Advising client on ways to increase income and/or reduce operating expense
